This generates 27,000 flashes of light per second! Chemists, physicists, and biologists benefit from the results of the highly complex European XFEL\/DESY facility in Hamburg and the surrounding area, and <strong>ultimately society as a whole<\/strong>. With this and similar technologies, <strong>viruses are captured in the finest detail<\/strong>, <strong>atoms are filmed in slow motion<\/strong>, and sustainable <strong>nanomaterials<\/strong> are tested.   <\/p>\n<p>Since construction began, Genkinger material handling vehicles have been deployed at the facility, all of which had to be built particularly compact and environment-adapted due to the confined spaces. These included: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>a crane vehicle<\/strong> to be transported down into the tunnel via elevator and to lay 1.5 t floor plates.<\/li>\n<li><strong>a multi-directional platform truck<\/strong> with lift-push-rotate unit for installing concrete plates as radiation shielding in the tunnel.<\/li>\n<li><strong>another multi-directional platform truck<\/strong> for ton-heavy special magnets and klystrons, instruments for generating and amplifying microwaves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Before 27,000 flashes of light per second could shine brightly, Genkinger contributed several &#8220;flashes of inspiration&#8221;
