A lightweight solution in the spare parts warehouse
Lufthansa also “takes off” in the spare parts warehouse in Hamburg. As everywhere in aviation, weight plays a major role here too. A standard storage and retrieval machine would simply have been too heavy for the building, so Genkinger’s specialists engineered a lightweight yet efficient solution.
The vehicle now operates at Lufthansa Technik on the third floor of the large warehouse. It ensures that urgently needed spare parts reach dispatch quickly. Guide rollers keep the vehicle on track in an aisle only 1,300 mm wide.
To find the correct position before the telescopic forks store or retrieve the pallet, positioning lasers are mounted on the right and left of the load handling device. A signal light indicates when the pallet is outside the machine contour and travel can continue.
