Custom solution: AGV for film rolls

An international film manufacturer and coater presented Genkinger with a complex task: developing an AGV for the automated transport of film rolls.

The task involved automatically picking up film rolls at winding/slitting lines and delivering the finished rolls to a turntable changer for fully automated packaging – 24/7.

Tight space constraints and constant pedestrian traffic had to be taken into account. The solution: the G-ROB AGV. Using a 360° navigation laser and a floor rail, it positions itself at each winding/slitting line with an accuracy of ±2 mm.

With two mandrels, each with a load capacity of 600 kg, the G-ROB picks up the film rolls and hands them over at the turntable changer. Personnel protection scanners secure the area around the vehicle.

Controlled via the ERP system, the G-ROB processes orders fully automatically.
