Interaction during tool changes
An automotive supplier planned a process conversion for tool changes: a large tool weighing 18 t and measuring 3.70 m in length was to be moved from a platform truck to a tool table at a change station. A smaller 3 t tool changer needed to be able to change modules from the large tool separately. All of this was implemented in a confined space within a special production area. The tool changer drives to the tool table to precisely pick up or retract the tools using special push-pull devices. Since both devices and the table were planned together from the outset, the processes run exactly as requested by the customer.
