When it comes to wheelset replacement for rail vehicles, a fast, safe, and precise process is crucial. Commuter trains require regular maintenance – Genkinger material handling vehicles help with this. To get the trains back on track quickly, repair, testing, and cleaning often take place around the clock in the depots, the heart of the commuter train system.

Unlike road vehicles, individual wheels are not replaced on commuter trains, but rather complete wheelsets. To make the associated process faster and safer, two Genkinger special vehicles were developed. One vehicle removes the worn wheelset from under the lifted train, while the second vehicle is already ready with the new wheelset.

The size of the two Genkinger vehicles is designed so that they fit exactly between the rails. The absolutely necessary low overall height was achieved with a full free lift mast. A sensitive drive positions the vehicle with millimeter precision. The side shift assists in adjusting the mounting position.

The material handling vehicle duo also precisely and safely handles the storage and retrieval of wheelsets from the shelves. This makes the wheelset replacement process completely stress-free for employees.
